Irene Elsie Richards is born to Sydney Charles and Eliza Harriet Richards (formerly Laplain). Sydney works as a Printer's Warehouseman, and was formerly in the Army. Irene, now known as Reenie Roberts, is a quietly intelligent woman who has spent her life supporting the male members of her family. She now lives in retirement in Southend.
