7th of April 1861
Burcombe Lane, Burcombe, Wilton, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Samuel (49), a Farm Labourer from Barford St. Martin, and Eliza Hibberd (37) a Labourer born in Iron Acton, Gloucestershire are the heads of a family of 8. George is 17, a Farm Labourer born in King's Stanley, Gloucestershire. This is around 18 miles from Iron Acton, although in later and earlier census nights George is recorded as being born in Barford St.Martin. This may explain why it is proving difficult to find George's birth certificate around Barford St. Martin. Mary (14), Thomas (10),Martha (8) and Ellen (5) are all at school and all from Barford St. Martin. The youngest of the family at 6 months is Samuel born in Burcombe, Wiltshire. Burcombe is the neighbouring village between Barford St. Martin and Wilton. George, the direct descendant of this family is living with his wife and her parents.
