2nd bank holiday today so Michael Douglas gets up very early for a 6.30 brekky and gives us a great start and some bread for the journey (bit like the famous 5). Slow start but day goes really well with plenty of downhill. Get into Figeac at 5.30pm find the hotel - very nice with huge room and a terrace on two sides overlooking the river.

Figeac looks worth a revisit. Have 3 fantastic crêpes and Nixter's knee is much better (she carried 1 bag in the afternoon) so everyone is happy. Brillo !!

A fantastic day's cycling. 53 miles whizzed by - my knee feels good and I took my bag back from Mal. Started out very cold and misty after the rain storm the night before. Descended the steep hill we climbed. Took us all ages to get going. I think it's because of the rest day. Spectacular scene of mist hanging over lake - like going back in time - kept expecting a horse and cart to emerge from the shadows. Getting very brave with peeing - on the side of the road now! Risking being caught by passing motorists - Liz doesn't even leave his bike now - calls it his third thumb. Me and Mal had a couple of close shaves. Fell asleep at lunch for a few minutes in the sun.
a great spot to catch a few zzzzzs at Fontanes du Causse
A storm brewing in the afternoon - thunder and deep dark blue clouds in the distance but never quite caught up with us.
a close shave with a big cloud at Reyrevignes
Had really good coffee in a really dodgy tabac - five guys of a certain age who looked and acted like they'd been sitting at the same table for 20 years without any visitors from outside the village. Mind keeps wandering to Redmond. Does he think we've abandoned him?? Each push of the pedal I thought we're getting closer to him, then I thought we're actually still pedalling further away from him and I'll have to wait until we get on the bus! On the home straight now though.
Day 10 Domme to Figeac: 82kilometres/51miles, 0730h-1730h, m up m down, 8 km/h (remember this includes breaks)

Suggested changes: About 2-3km after Montfaucon and the underpass you'll approach another busier D-road with a right hand turn saying its for service traffic only. You can use this road to get onto the D road (D2/D802) without having to go over the road, onto the D807 and back again.
